Life Through the Eyes of a Professional Artist
Today is June 23, 2020 - a Tuesday. It will be another hot and sunny day here in NYC. I have not written a Blog post in a while but that all changes starting today. It will be treated as a personal diary of sorts where I share whats going on but through the eyes and perspective of a professional artist.
Although during the day I work for an asset management firm on Madison Avenue in New York City (remotely currently due to the pandemic), by night I am a professional artist. Art has always been a passion of mine and continues to grow stronger with each passing day. Oil painting and fine art have such a strong magnetism - it is such a joy to pursue this avenue of creative work!
Currently working on a self-portrait. This week would make it the third week of this effort. This is being done on a 18"x 24" triple oil primed Masterpiece brand canvas and painted from life. If you had asked if this is something that would have been undertaken a year ago the idea would have been laughable. It is amazing how quickly things can change for the better! Very thankful that my art coach - Mr. Stefan Baumann pushes me so hard to always improve with every single brush stroke.
Painting aside, I am quickly learning the solid gold that is the art of self improvement and part of this journey is to just do things despite the mood not being absolutely perfect. Try this mentality for a week and be amazed at the results. It is certainly effective in picking up a paintbrush and creating or running an errand or cooking that healthy recipe that keeps getting pushed off. So often you will quickly feel so much better about yourself, get energized, and feel super productive.
